Research Art of the title 1 - Zombieland

Zombieland (2009)

In the opening of Zombieland, the opening sequence hints at the comedy and horror genre because it has guns and fire in the background then has a zombie eating a man close up but then goes to a fat man running. In the next scene a guy gets eaten by a zombie on a toilet which is funny.

In the credits, the rules that the narrator and main character uses to survive zombieland are shown in red and white, Also the names of the people that were involved in the production of the film. Towards the end of the opening sequence the title of the film is shown.
The colour of the names and title were all in red to symbolise blood which is associated with zombies and the rest of the opening sequence is full of quite dull colours such as beige, brown, black, and dark red. In this frame, the editing to create the breaking of the glass and the name of the movie ‘Zombieland’ matches with the violence in the background.
The Audience in drawn in by the use of zombies which is what teenagers are typically drawn to when they watch a horror movie. The title sequence also creates a background for the movie itself as it shows what has happened to the world around the narrator and main character of the film.

  1. OK. You use your knowledge of the horror genre to make a few observations. You make some interesting points such as the visual code of shattering glass. Improve your written style by proofreading your work: avoid using too many 'ands' in one sentence.
